Elective Requirements (9 cr.)
Students may take electives in any area of interest to complement their plan of study with approval from the approval from the faculty advisor. Electives taken must bring the total to 35 credit hours and must contribute to the integrity of the student's program.
Should the student choose to complete a master’s thesis, six credits of U599 Master’s Thesis in College Personnel Administration should be counted towards the elective requirements.
Additional Program Requirements
Students must hold a paid field-based experience (e.g. graduate assistantship or similar; full time position) in higher education and student affairs for the duration of their time in the program. The position must be approved by the faculty as meeting this requirement prior to admission being granted.
Students in B.S.Ed. in Counseling and Student Services and M.S.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Approved Accelerated Master's Program:
Programs may be designed to allow students to share up to 12 graduate IU I(Indiana University) credits in their undergraduate and M.S.Ed. degrees. Students in such programs may not apply any additional undergraduate hours (whether used for UG degree or not) to the M.S.Ed.
